My second semester was completed with the presentation of my menswear collection titled "Urban Nomads". I first came across some very very interesting pieces from Gareth Pugh's Spring/Summer 2009 collection - with armour-like sleeves and bodice panels resembling the armadillo.

Although I take on a very feminine aesthetic for womenswear, I've always envisioned my menswear to be very dark, edgy and strong. So when I discovered Japanese label "
Julius", I was instantly in love with Tatsuro Horikawa's dark romanticism

To me, Julius' dark romanticism could almost take form in a vagabond in search of his own destiny and survival as the world draws to its apocalyptic end. Like a forsaken nomad traveling across a desert in search of water and civilization

Using these 3 inspirations, my collection was therefore built on the imagery of a futuristic vagabond on his quest for survival in the apocalyptic world - with structured outer pieces resembling armours to protect him against harsh nature and soft, pliable inner pieces representing the dark romantic spirit within
