Beethoven Frieze was painted for the 14th
Vienna Secession exhibition in 1902, in honour of the composer
Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Gustav Klimt painted it directly across three concrete walls with light material. The 34 metres '
mural' was intended to be for the exhibition only and was preserved; and is now on permanent display at Vienna's
Secession Hall. The
narration centres around a main character, a knight; with left wall being "Yearning For Happiness", front wall of "The Hostile Powers" and the right wall depicts "The Longing For Happiness Is Fulfilled".
