I know this has been done and re-done and so re-done. But I can never get past this golden era when the economy prospered following the aftermath of World War 1. In fact, every movie I saw and every book I read depict the decadence that only my imagination can take me to - beautifully-embroidered flapper dresses, cloche hats, lingerie, luxurious fur collars, long pearl necklaces, cigarette holders, tiers and tiers of ruffles to kick up some Charleston moves.
In the modern not-so-decadent days, the people of NYC still get to jazz away like their roaring fore-parents. In fact, every year in summer on Governors Island. I came across this photographer, Jamie who did a photoblog on Jazz Age Lawn Party on my cake-loving friend Katherine's blog. From what I gather, this insanely popular festival attracts some of most fashionable locals, who are in fact bigger and more important than the event itself. I know where I'll be if I ever go to NYC in summer, even if I have to swim across to Governors Island ...

Doesn't it just make you ache inside that you don't live in New York?! I'm STILL jealous and planning a trip as we speak/type.
