Swedish-based Helena Hörstedt is this very talented young designer, who in 2004 graduated from Beckmans School of Design, Stockholm. While not based on obvious external themes, her intricately-folded, structurally-constructed pieces stood out amongst the minimalist approach so favoured by Swedish designers (think Ikea: minimalist, utilitarian). With her choice of palette being black (and quite gothic in style), she has managed to work the folds and pleats in the most amazing way. Working from her own apartment, she only makes to order due to her belief that the purity of creation and the handcrafted value give true meaning her garments. As opposed to the mass market crap we see everyday.

According to a source, she may or may not continue her designs following the birth of her first child after her last collection in 2008. Here's a video interview I found on youtube, with the designer herself. She's really pretty and sweet!
Oh I like this one, it reminds me of Bladerunner :)
