It seems like Melbourne is so far behind when it comes to quality fashion exhibitions. So much so for the proclaimed fashion capital of Australia (read: disappointing). Anyway, I'm not here to point that out. I'm here to gush over the other stunning
exhibition taking place at
The Metropolitan Museum, New York. Organised by
The Costume Institute, the
exhibition showcases the extraordinary talent that was
Alexander "Lee" McQueen, who
passed away in February 2010. London native, starting out as a tailor apprentice who subsequently went on to do his master's in
Central St Martin, we all have come to love McQueen for the romantic fantasies he expressed through his clothes. He was especially noted for the exaggerated silhouettes of his garments and couture embellishments that were nothing short of breathtaking. Amongst the 100 pieces of his couture work, here are some of highlights from McQueen's "Savage Beauty" exhibition (also published in a book by the same name)
